This is just a quick reminder about our new awesome dri-fit shirts/uniforms! If you haven’t done so already, make sure to sign up for one:

Don’t worry about the size yet, we will bring in a sample for you to see before we order them so you will be able to change it. The shirts will be $15 for club members/$22 for non-members. Money is due by FRIDAY, MARCH 22nd (start of spring break).

Also, we need at least 2 more people so sign up to volunteer with us to count as a club philanthropy activity. If you are free, please sign up. It is only 4 hours and should be an easy job (and I think it comes with a free t-shirt).

INFORMATION

They will be restringing racquets, selling sweet badminton gear, shuttles, racquets. We will be doing a raffle too!

Our parking Map (any staff lot nearby is public parking on weekends) —> PDF form
We have 8 courts, high ceilings, few showers/locker rooms available in HPER, but is advised that TRECS (our awesome gym few buildings down) has the best locker rooms. To enter into the building, you must go under the breezeway and walk to doors on left.
UPDATE: There are other tournaments happening nearby, so traffic from the swimming meet might interfere, but the parking lots closest are the one next to HPER and the one by Hodges Library, as highlight on the parking map.
There will be signs everywhere to direct people to park. One can register later if they are only doing doubles.

THE ORDER OF EVENTS:
8am-9am Registration/warmup
9am-begin 1st round of men’s/women’s singles
11am-begin 1st round of men’s/women’s doubles
12pm-lunch (play will continue)
2pm-begin 1st round of mixed doubles
FINALS will happen at the end of each event
DO NOT BE LATE. You have 10 mins to arrive at your match. We have double the amount of players this year, so we definitely want people to be prompt and on time.
Lunch is pizza (if you have any allergies, please contact and we can arrange something else for you!)
Snacks/Gatorade is provided

 

For Dinner, some of us will be going to Jai Dee, it is within walking distance down the street on 17th and also has available parking at a staff lot nearby. It is a thai/japanese restaurant so after the tourney is over there is an option to go! we will tally it at the tourney, but wanted to let you all know about it :)

University of Tennessee Badminton

The University of Tennessee has a badminton club all their own. The collegiate club is located on campus in Knoxville, TN on 2111 Volunteer Blvd. This club is mostly for students, faculty, and staff but is also available as a source of recreation for the surrounding community every Sunday when it sponsors guests. They offer a chance for anyone to play and also give more advanced players the opportunity to be coached and compete at a higher level. The head coach is Rod Sutch and the assistant coach is Farhaz Nooralli.

Currently, the UT Badminton Club has 30 members and is looking to grow. They focus on recreation and exercise but can also train for athletes who want to advance their skills to a higher level. This club is excited at the opportunity to host upcoming tournaments in order to allow more players to compete with each other.

Dues are $20 this semester. We hope to be awesome as always. You need a button if you havent got one yet and help us set an example of our awesome tennessee club. Hope we can do more community service, traveling, and teaching! This semester we will be going to tournaments such as Ole Miss, Emory, and NC.

We appreciate everyone who came out and played badminton this semester. Next semester will most likely be around the same time.  School begins Jan. 9th and that is when play will resume. We will keep you all up-to-date to what will
